A European Union court on Monday squashed Microsoft Corp.'s legal challenge to a landmark antitrust ruling and record fine, a resounding victory for the EU that confirms its role as a major global regulator.
The court upheld a landmark Commission decision to give consumers more choice in software markets," The European Commission was correct in concluding that Microsoft was guilty of monopoly The EU Court also said regulators had clearly demonstrated that Microsoft's selling of media software with Windows had hurt rivals.
The United States uses Court decisions as case law. For an example, one of the more famous cases we all know about was Roe vs Wade, an abortion issue that stirred many a debate for years.
You all may be wondering what does this Microsoft case have to do with Poker? I believe it lays a foundation for a challenge against an entity trying to monopolize the media reporting of poker events, here in the U.S.A. and abroad.
We the consumers of poker news and updates should have the ability for more choices in the world of Live Poker Updates from more than one site. Each site should have a fair and equitable chance to bring us the most up to date and accurate accounts of what is going on at major tournament events.
The recent decisions being made by the WPT and WSOP have given an unfair advantage to the many resources that were available to us, causing one site to go out of business and others on the verge of shutting down.
Everyone is so concerned about the rights of on-line poker players we have forgotten to defend the rights of the brick and mortar players along with the fans who support them and travel long distances to play and cheer their favorite players at major events.
