Bio
Born and raised in the city that lays claim to the world’s
first commercial oil well and high school home of John Heisman,
Titusville Pennsylvania, I spent most of my life a stranger
to all things gambling, with the exception of bingo (thanks
Mom). If not for a random day at home when I noticed my dad
playing cards on the Internet for money, my life may have
taken a completely different course altogether. Curious, I
took a seat next to him and discovered Texas Hold’em.
Soon after, I was initiated as a member of B.P.O. Elks Lodge
#264 and a regular in the Thursday night poker game. With
confidence gained from being a consistent winner in the Elks
Club game, I decided to take on the virtual felt. Whatever
the reason - luck, skill, or the myth that all first time
depositors experience modest success during their first month
online, I starting winning and loving it. Motivated by aspirations
of that first big tournament win, I have spent the past four
years fine tuning my game, both online and in casinos from
New York to Las Vegas. Each new day that passes is a learning
experience for me; I view my involvement with WiseHandPoker.com
as a unique opportunity to share my mistakes, my setbacks,
my triumphs and my accomplishments with others who share the
desire to take their game to the next level.
Career:
My first official job title was “referee.” I
was paid seven dollars a game to officiate youth soccer matches
for the local recreation center. I graduated from Titusville
High School in 1999 and began my post-secondary education
at Westminster College in New Wilmington, PA the following
fall. I entered college a computer science major and finished
with a Bachelor’s degree in English and a concentration
in writing. In 2004 I made the move to Las Vegas to pursue
a graduate degree in education at the University of Nevada,
Las Vegas. Many people close to me have concluded that my
enrollment at UNLV served as a scapegoat designed to mask
my real career plans, which remain unacceptable in the eyes
of many. I will maintain my Swiss stance on this theory, and
instead take a moment to stress the need for qualified, dedicated
educators in Las Vegas, a city whose education system ranks
fifth in size and filth in quality. I have held a variety
of jobs from waiting tables to coaching track and field to
working for the Federal government. Currently I am employed
as a substitute teacher for the Clark County School District
and spend the remainder of my time grinding it out on the
felt.
Interests and Hobbies
Poker, music, playing soccer, and watching football to name
a few.
