In 1989, Todd had completed 3 years of studies law at Texas Tech in Lubbock. It was the moment Todd decided he wasn’t going to go back to school for his senior year. “I wanted to be a professional poker player,” is what he told his family. You would think Todd was raised on poker, but Doyle never brought his work home and Doyle didn’t even know if Todd knew how to play poker. Todd knew how to play poker very well. He had been playing the tables during his stay in college. Todd realized he enjoyed poker more than his studies. Todd decided to take the plunge at age 20 and become a professional poker player like his dad
By the time he was 21, Todd already won first-place at the $200,000 main-event in the Diamond Jim Brady tournament at the Bicycle Club in Los Angeles. It was the first of many career wins in big name tournaments.
By winning his first WSOP bracelet in 2005, Todd and Doyle Brunson became the only father and son combination to win WSOP championships. Like father, like son.
Todd is well known for his insights into seven-card stud eight-or-better as compared to no limit hold'em. Todd wrote that section of his fathers book: Super System 2.
Todd currently resides in Las Vegas, NV with his wife. He plays in the biggest games the world and is scheduled to appear in several upcoming television tournaments.

Weakness : Doesn't always keep pressure on his opponents after a good winTodd graduated from poker at college to the Vegas games. He worked his way up to the biggest limits and has been successful at all forms of poker. He demonstrated surprising writing skills as the author of the seven card stud hi/lo section in Super/System 2. Todd will be in the spotlight for many years to come.
Amusing anecdote: Todd has occasionally criticized his dad's plays in public. Doyle maintains his composure and sarcastically responds, "I know Todd. I'm the idiot who sired a genius."Doyle calls Todd after big games and especially after big tournaments. Doyle will ask, "How did you do?" If Todd won, the answer is always, "I played, didn't I."
