Hey guys, I

Another couple of episodes of the Main Event premiered last night. I found it sad when Marcel Luske exited when the River card gave Robert Varkonyi a straight to beat his trip jacks. While some former champions were giving out bad beats, one had a bad beat delivered to him as Chris Moneymaker got rivered when he was all-in.
The defending champion Joe Hachem was at the featured table of the final aired episode of day 1. I think Hachem is great for poker and was a great spokesperson for the game over the last year. He showed how dangerous he is too as he built up a very healthy stack by switching up his game. On the last hand of the night Hachem raised preflop with a 4-2 off suit and flopped trips and turned quad 2’s. His opponent held Q-Q for the full house and couldn’t find it in him to fold.
Daniel Negreanu was at the featured table of the day 2 episode. I will say that I never want to be at the same table as this man. The way he reads hands is amazing! If I were at the same table as him I would never move or say a word. This is why I was confused by the play of Bryant King in the Tunica event. He showed his hands to Negreanu after several hands. I don’t understand why someone would want to give a very dangerous man even more information.
Negreanu entered the day with a good-sized stack of chips and did a good job of keeping it that way. The last hand of the night was a huge one for him. He got involved with another big stack while holding A-K with the Ace of clubs. The flop came three low clubs. Negreanu moved all-in and was called by Q-Q. Although he had a lot of outs, Negreanu was an underdog in a coin flip situation. However, the turn brought a fourth club and Negreanu took down a monster pot.
I found it interesting watching Negreanu play. I followed his video blog during the World Series and he talked about how he was playing nearly every hand and it showed on TV. He felt the play was bad enough that he could outplay people on every hand. With the way he calls out everyone

I’m sitting with Johnny Chan and Mike Sexton, talking about Jamie Gold. I can’t quote everything that’s being said, but Johnny’s confirmed something to me; there was no 10% split agreement with Gold.
Gold has been in the papers lately because of his failure to pay the 50% of his win he reportedly owes Crispin and Jules Layser, and the speculation has been that Gold also owes Chan 10% for the orient Expres’s tutiledge during Jamie’s run to the championship. “I just did it because we’re friends” Johnny told me. “There’s no 10%”.
Jules and Crispin told me about the deal a few days before the final table, so I’m inclined to believe them, but there are two sides to every story. Hey, if the rumor mongers were wrong about Johnny, they could be wrong about anything

Today started out slowly here at the Legends of Poker. Sure, three tables broke in the first forty-five minutes, but after that, there were some long, slow, uneventful hours. Fortunately, those are gone, replaced by merriment and relaxation.
After two tense months at the World Series, a number of poker

Someone out there must think I’m a compulsive gambler. Why else would I get about 3 or 4 magazines a month dedicated to sports gambling. These “magazines” are basically just a series of advertisments for off shore online casinos. The most recent mailing I received is called “INSIDERS betting digest”. It says it is the 2006 Pro and College edition and has a USD price of $7.95. Obviously I didn’t pay for this and I doubt anyone else ever has either.
The front cover featured picture of T.O (Terrel Owens) and had a headline about him finding a home in the Big D. Being a niners fan and living a couple hours away from Philly means I’ve had my fill of T.O over the past 7 or so years. I did see one story that I thought was interesting; “Winning your fist online no limit Texas Hold’em Poker Trounament”. Granted I’ve won several online tournaments in the past but I thought I could still pick up some tips from this article.
Now I have no claim to being a great tournament strategy theorist, but I did have to take issue with some of the tips provided in this article.
