New Technology
I'm not sure what repairs are being done to the apartment complex pool (which is about 50 inches from my bedroom window) at 8am this morning, but it sounds serious. From what I could tell auditorially, they are attempting to tunnel to middle earth using a nuclear powered pneumatic power needle. There also might be a laser-plasma wrecking ball and twelve or thirteen thousand guys shooting assault rifles at it.

I checked with the local zoning board and it seems they are going to make sure the pool is heated by tunneling down to the magma layer under the earth's crust. The noise should abate soon as when the reach a sufficient depth they will just detonate a small tactical nuclear device to get the depth they need. It shouldn't irradiate the place to badly and they figure the radioactive glow will illuminate the pool at night.
