Legends of
Poker - Season 1 - Nov 11, 2002
Held at the Bicycle Casino in Los Angeles, the Legends of
Poker event attracted 134 poker players with its $5,000 buy
in. With the buy in cut in half from the previous inaugural
World Poker Tour event, the prize pool was $670,000 with a
first prize of $258,000.
The event featured the first woman poker player to make a
World Poker Tour final table, Kathy Liebert, as well as future
two-time World Series of Poker bracelet winner Mark Seif,
Chris Karagulleyan, Can Kim (C.K.) Hua, Hon Le and Stan Goldstein.
Hon Le got mixed up in much of the action, crippling Mark
Seif late in the tournament after he cracked his pocket aces.
His aggressive style led him to a heads up match with Chris
Karagulleyan. Karagulleuan played solid throughout the final
table eventually taking advantage of Hon Le’s loose
play to take home a World Poker Tour title.
