Grand Prix de Paris - Season 2 - Jul 13, 2003
The first event of Season 2 kicked off at an international
location, The Aviation Club in Paris, France. In this event
we were introduced to future “Big Game” player,
David Benyamine. Also making their World Poker Tour TV Final
Table was future WPT Player of the Year, Erick Lindgren.
Despite the small 96 player field, the event was filled with
big names both from the United States and Europe that put
up the €10,000 entry fee. In US dollars this translated
into a $919,000 prize pool.
Benyamine lead the action for much of the final table. In
fact, the Frenchman personally eliminated all five of his
opponents in this impressive victory. Not only did Benyamine
take home the title, but the $430,969 first place money was
enough to parlay into a regular spot at the Big Game in Las
Vegas.
