Party Poker Millions - Season 2 - Mar 20, 2004
Limit Hold’em is the game of choice on the Party Poker
Millions stop on the World Poker Tour. 546 players hit the
high seas on the MS Ryndam either qualifying online or buying
in directly for $7,000. Five out of the six final table players
were well known pros that included Daniel Negreanu, Erick
Lindren, Barry Greenstein, Steve Zolotow and Scotty Nguyen.
However it was the amateur and $25 satellite qualifier Chris
Henchcliff that entered the day with the chip lead thanks
to his strong right arm firing chips into the pot.
Short stacks Nguyen and Greenstein managed to keep their
heads above water and even double up several times, but were
eventually eliminated in 6th and 5th place respectively. Zolotow
was next to go, whittled away after playing extremely tight
for most of the day. Chris Henchcliff build his mountain of
chips by playing ultra-aggressive poker for most of the tournament,
but the amateur was simply outclassed by Negreanu and Lindgren,
making his exit in third place.
The heads-up match took place between two extremely good
friends and talented players, Daniel Negreanu and Erick Lindgren.
With both players going in with even stacks it was truly anyone’s
game. Negreanu lost two key pots worth over T1,000,000 each,
giving Lindren a massive chip lead. On the final hand Lindren
squeaked out a win when his A-3 won out against Negreanu’s
A-4 after a 3 fell on the flop. This was Lindgren’s
second World Poker Tour Title of the season, this time collecting
a cool $1,000,000.
