The first stop for the World Poker Tour in 2003 started off with a bang at the PokerStars’ Caribbean Poker Adventure. Held January 18th- 25th the event featured some great players at the final table for the $7,500 buy-in event.
Daniel Negreanu, Gus Hansen, John D’agositno and Hoyt Corkins were the well known pros at the table that also featured amateurs Michael Benedetto and Remco Schrijvers. Hanson drew first blood eliminating Schrijvers, then D’agostino and Benedetto leaving the three most well known pros. After battling for a while Corkins busted Negreanu leaving the Alabama Cowboy and the Great Dane to the heads up match.
In the final hand Hanson won in his signature style with 7-3 offsuit when he made a full house on the river. Beating out 221 other players Gus took home $455,780. This was his third World Poker Tour title.
