Five Diamond World Poker Classic - Season 5
- Dec 19, 2006
Joe Hachem’s 1st place finish at the 2006 Five Diamond
World Poker Classic headlined an event full of big stories
and record setting accomplishments. Hachem bested a field
of 583, undeniably one of the best fields ever assembled for
a World Poker Tour event, earning a paycheck worth over $2.2
million.
With his win, Hachem joined the ranks of Doyle Brunson, Scotty
Nguyen and Carlos Mortensen as the only four players ever
to win both the main event at the World Series of Poker and
a World Poker Tour event.
Daniel Negreanu, having reached his 7th televised World Poker
Tour final table, became the tour’s all-time leading
money winner with $4,877,097 in career earnings. Joining Hachem
and Negreanu at the final table were former New Orleans Saints
star Jim Hanna, Mads Anderson, David Redlin and Ed Jordan.
