Grand Prix de Paris - Season 5 - Jun 16, 2006
The Grand Prix de Paris drew 232 participants from around
the world to its $10,000 buy-in event, undoubtedly one of,
if not the most, coveted titles in European poker. The final
table participants, representing four European countries,
showed the world a high-quality brand of poker, full of action
and aggression.
When all was said and done, the day would belong to Christian
Grundtvig of Denmark, an experienced tournament player. On
the final hand of heads-up action, Grundtvig called an all-in
bet made by Jani Sointula of Finland. Grundtvig’s pocket
sixes held up over Sointula’s A-5 offsuit, earning him
the title and $712,500 euros.
Others at the final table were Thomas Wahlroos of Finland,
Henrik Witt of Denmark, Philip Yeh of Sweden, and Patrick
Schuhl of the host country France. The top ranking American
was John Jerney, who finished 13th, good for $25,000 EUR.
