Poker Quiz - July 12, 2007

The Poker Quiz

You are playing in a super loose aggressive deep stacked $1/2 NL Cash game. In middle position you limp into the pot with J 10 . A player in late position also limps and the button with $700 in front of him raises to $15. The big blind calls and so do you and the original limper. The flop comes Q 9 5. The big blind checks, you bet $25 and both players behind you make the call. The big blind then comes over the top for $175. You have him covered by $10.

The Solution

Call.

You have an open-ended straight draw. If the big blind mistakenly slow played a set or two pair you still have 15 outs, making you a favorite to win the hand. The only way you would be in worse shape would be if the big blind had specifically A K, but you would still have 12 outs, giving you correct odds to call.
