Rakeback

What is Rakeback and how it works?

Every time a player plays a hand in a poker room, the poker room takes a percentage of the winning pot. Normally this fee is around 5% or up to $5/hand. So if a player is playing on a regular basis, his rake can grow into thousands of dollars each month depending at how much and how often he is playing.

Rakeback started in 2004. As any online poker player knows, every poker room deducts a portion of the pot as their own profit. This portion is called rake. The cumulative rake you are generating might not be as small as you think. Depending on how much you play, it can be anywhere from a few dollars up to thousands per month.

Rakeback is a percent of the rake paid back to you for playing at a poker site. Serious players earn thousands of dollars a month just in rakeback. This money is often paid to you by an affiliate for signing you up as a player for the poker room. Sometimes rakeback is paid to you by the poker room itself.

In short, rakeback means that you get a large part (27-60%) of this rake RETURNED to your gaming account every month. Rakeback calculation table.

Rakeback calculation table

The amount of Rakeback that you can earn depends on a lot of different factors. The two key factors are:

1) Rakeback percent

2) Rake generated

There are ways to estimate how much rake you generate and then how much rake you generate and how much rakeback you are entitled to.

We use this simple equation to estimate rake:

0.05 * Average pot size * Raked hands / Players = Rake

A few examples:

Hands Players Blinds Rake % Rakeback
1000 6 $2/4 $333 30% $100
1000 10 $1/2 $150 30% $45
1000 6 25c/50c $83 30% $25

1000 raked hands represents approximately 5 hours of play on two tables.
